Nolen Oayda - Profile
Born and raised in Sydney, Nolen escaped city life back in 1981
when he headed for the hills. After spending a year and a half based
in Verbier, Switzerland he moved to the Australian Alps where he
trained and competed as a freestyle ski competitor. Nolen pursued
this career until 1986 when he was forced into retirement after
a major knee injury. Up until that date he had reached multiple
Australian titles and international results including two European
Cup wins, being the first Australian to do so.
Still based in the Snowy Mountains Nolen specializes in outdoor
action photography with emphasis on snow and mountain bike photography.
Over the past several years Nolen’s non-snow work has become
a growing feature in his portfolio with material such as the ‘Beach
Cricket’ image, on display with the Australian Gallery of Sport
and Olympic Museum.
With his material featured in over 50 publications world wide, Nolen’s
clients range from the New South Wales and Australian Tourism Board,
to outdoor clothing companies and an array of editorial publications.
