Progress report: All Terrain Mountain Bike Challenge (ATMBC) event at Jindabyne NSW Australia, 23 ‚ 25 March 2001.

Stages one and two of the ATMBC are up and running and all systems are go.

Summary of Event Description

The All Terrain Mountain Bike Challenge is about freeride mountain biking, about riding a bike where most of us have trouble even walking. Itís not about who gets from point A to B the fastest, instead itís about taking on the most radical line and powering through it with total control and kick ass style.

The course is littered with rough, rocky, steep Australian-bush landscape (approx 300m vertical decent over approx 1 km). Lake Jindabyne dam wall is located alongside the event course and the spectacular backdrop views of the lake and Snowy Mountains match the awesome riding terrain.

Along with the main event there will be an expression session which will profile ëNorth Shoreí style riding and a dirt gap jump.

Media Coverage

The ATMBC is an event specifically designed for international television and home video production and distribution. The ATMBC is a confirmed half-hour, televised event to be broadcast on Fox Sports Australia (minimum of two broadcasts). The TV production of the show will be marketed to free to air television networks in Australia (the Prime Network have acknowledged their interest) and also to cable and free to air networks in the UK and North America.

Gravity Films, an established and proven production house that specialises in mountain bike and snow sport footage, will be producing and distributing the ATMBC television and home video production.

Gravity Films has an established distribution network in UK and North America and is at the forefront of international extreme sports media. Gravity Films is the broker of extreme sports programming for international television broadcast and has represented a number of producers and films for broadcast to Fox Sports Australia, the Extreme Sports Channel in Europe and a selection of independent pay-tv and internet broadcast companies.

The ATMBC will be reviewed in a number of print media publications including the Sunday Telegraph, Planet X, Inside Sport, Australian Mountain Bike magazines and Bike magazine USA (to be confirmed).

ATMBC Sponsorship

The first year of a major sporting event is the toughest for winning sponsorship support. The ATMBC has confirmed support in excess of itís original goal and has in turn been able to further upgrade the event to Australiaís first ever major freeride mountain bike event and one of the few events of itís kind to be held in the World. Confirmed financial supporters include:

Sanctioned Event

The ATMBC is supported and sanctioned by Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA).

The event organiser would like to acknowledge MTBAís vision, lateral thinking and capabilities of being able fit circles into squares.

Competitors

This is an invitation only event, ensuring world class talent and reducing the chance of fatal carnage.

The ATMBC is offering accommodation free of charge, heavily reduced prices on food and drinks and free shuttle transport around town between the eventís location and designated accommodation.

We are looking at a field of 25 ridersÖ.some have been selected from past race results, some riders are known as awesome freeriders and then weíll have some wild card entries to encourage the new blood aspect and keep us all guessing.

The ATMBC will give you and your sponsors the opportunity to have your names broadcast on television sets around the world. This is a chance to play a part in Australiaís first annual international freeride mountain bike event.

In Summary

If youíre a biker, team manager, retailer, wholesaler, importer, manufacturer, sponsor or fan of mountain biking this event needs people like you to give it credibility. In the end the crew behind the ATMBC can only make sure the event runs like clock work, but we need you bike people out there to make it an awesome display of talent and a gathering of core riders.

Prize Money

Still need a bit more incentive? Weíll thereís a cash prize kitty worth AUS$5000.00.

Please note that due to council requirements the event organiser is not encouraging on-site spectators, but don't worry because the half hour TV production and 45 minute home video wonít miss a beat.

Spin the wheel,

Nolen Oayda.

ATMBC Project Manager.
